Blueprints Bachelor en Master

In the Domain-Specific Reference Framework for Pharmacy (2016), the knowledge domain of pharmacy, legal frameworks, and the objectives of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Pharmacy in the Netherlands are described. The accompanying framework outlines the national competencies of the basic pharmacist and utilizes the CanMEDS model as a framework for formulating these competencies.

The Blueprint for the Bachelor’s in Pharmacy and the Blueprint for the Master’s in Pharmacy are based on the national framework for Pharmacy 2016 and form the basis for the current Bachelor’s and Master’s curricula, which began in September 2016. The blueprints can be found on the Teams site Information for teachers.

Several important developments in the field are incorporated into the structure of these curricula. Since 2007, pharmacists have legally been assigned a role as healthcare providers. This calls for pharmacists who can take responsibility for both product care and patient care. Furthermore, there is increasing attention in pharmaceutical scientific research and current healthcare for more complex medications, such as biopharmaceuticals. These developments necessitated a broad substantive revision of both the Bachelor’s and Master’s curricula.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences considers it a challenge to be a leading and modern Pharmacy programme that not only meets the current requirements set by science and society but also prepares for the future and can adapt to new developments in the pharmaceutical field. Continuous evaluation and innovation take place at the course, programme, and curriculum levels, responding to changes in the pharmaceutical scientific research field, the pharmacy profession, and the latest educational insights and possibilities.
